Washington Times Attacks Flex Your Rights
FYR's response to the new random search program on public transportation in DC is continuing to generate media hits, including a negative reaction to our work in The Washington Times.
The editorial includes factual errors regarding the breadth of the program (amazingly, they didn’t know it includes bus stops) and even accuses Flex Your Rights of endangering public safety. It's revealing that our only opposition got the facts completely wrong. Fortunately, Washington Times published my reply today. Check it out.
It’s not everyday that I get accused of endangering everyone in DC, so you can imagine how amused I am by all of this.
The Washington Times? Who cares!

If these colors don't run
Comment posted by rita on Fri, 11/21/2008 - 12:11pmA couple of years ago, among local campaign signs, someone posted this hand-lettered one, with a picture of the American flag: "If these colors don't run, why do you fear terror enough to forfeit your liberties?" Gotta love it.
Anyway, Scott, somewhere in my paper trail is a court document listing the victim of my drug possession charge as "The state of Arizona." But everybody in Washington, D.C. -- what a coup!
Great letter, by the way.
That's a Relief

Oh, good, we don't have to worry about where the line is drawn anymore. This guy will let us know, based on....nothing.

Three Million People to Attend The Inauguration ... those were the headlines a couple of days ago. Think about that for a minute, will you?"
I hate to say it, but "the terrorists and evil-doers" have already won, at least when it comes to many so-called Americans like the genius above...
When people are so AFRAID that they are willing to fork over their freedom for the nebulous idea of "security," they have won and we have lost. To me, nothing in life matters as much as freedom - to some, being safe trumps all.
If terrorists want to attack us, they will. I certainly don't want that to happen (and I served honorably in the Army to prevent it!), but the idea that giving up our freedom is the ONLY way to prevent another attack is nonsense. Ask the Secret Service - if you're willing to trade your life to achieve the goal of killing others, there is little anyone can do to stop you! What people like "Personholecover" don't realize, is that we're only trading the threat of external tyranny for assured tyranny of our own making.
I've considered the "Washington Post" little better than propaganda disguised as toilet paper, ever since reading their fearmongering piece on "the dreaded, evil Salvia Divinorum."
Don't let 'em get to you Scott, and I'd better NEVER hear those words come out of YOUR mouth, OK ? :-)
